Abstract:The article offers information on erosive osteoarthritis, a distinctive clinical and radiographic variant of degenerative joint disease. Erosive osteoarthritis is characterized through episodic and acute inflammation of the distal and proximal interphalangeal joints of both hands. The inflammatory episode of erosive osteoarthritis may continue to be severe for many years where 15% may develop rheumatoid arthritis. This type of degenerative joint disease is commonly found in middle-aged females.
