Abstract:The article focuses on a study addressing that calcium deposition in the vascular wall promotes the development of atherosclerosis and hypertension. Calcium supplementation was found to protect against atherogenesis. The beneficial effects of calcium includes a prolongation of clotting time, decreased platelet aggregation, decreased total plasma cholesterol and slightly decreased plasma triglyceride.
