Abstract:The article examines the increasing body of research linking a mother's weight prior to, during, and after pregnancy to the rising rate of type 2 diabetes in North America. According to the studies, the disease is said to account for 90 percent of all diabetes and is approaching to epidemic level. Likewise, maternal obesity strengthens childhood obesity, and both cause to the epidemic of type 2 diabetes. Meantime, it suggests that the responsibility to avoid type 2 diabetes rests with parents.
