Abstract:This article focuses on therapeutic options for fibromyalgia. According to recent findings, 1.3-4.8% of the populations of Western industrialized nations suffer from fibromyalgia and 80-90% of those affected are women. Fibromyalgia is characterized by generalized joint and muscle pain without physical abnormality, and involves tenderness in certain areas of the body. The patient may also display stiffness, fatigue, sleep disturbances, cognitive impairment, sensitivity to noise and stress, menstrual disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, allergies, migraine, and depression.
