High iodine intake associated with thyroiditis and hypothyroidism

Abstract:The article reports on the association of high iodine intake with thyroiditis and hypothyroidism in China. Salt has been iodized since 1996, resulting in an increase in iodine intake throughout the country. Recent studies indicate an increase in the prevalence of autoimmune thyroiditis, overt hypothyroidism with increasing iodine intake in cohorts from three regions with different levels of iodine intake.
