Abstract:The article presents the comments of Kim Innes, an assistant professor at the Center for the Study of Complementary and Alternative Therapies at the University of Virginia, about the role of yoga in preventing the metabolic syndrome. Innes says that yoga reduces stress and helps one to get better sleep. Metabolic syndrome includes symptoms such as abdominal obesity, high cholesterol and insulin resistance. Innes says that yoga helps to increase insulin sensitivity and lowers cholesterol.
