Abstract:The article presents part one of the review on the effectiveness of orthomolecular medicine as an alternative method in treating schizophrenia. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is mentioned as a way to correct the biochemical imbalance of schizophrenics. Possible causes of schizophrenia are discussed, including essential fatty acid deficiency, food intolerance and digestive compromise and malabsorption.
