Changes in the Fatty Acid Composition of Brain and Liver Phospholipids from Rats Fed Fat-Free Diet

This study has been undertaken with the aim of elucidating the effect of a fat-free diet (FFD), which is known to be deficient in essential fatty acids (EFA), on the composition of fatty acids in...

Identification of Abundant Alkyl Ether Glycerophospholipids in the Human Lens by Tandem Mass Spectrometry Techniques

Previous studies have shown that the human lens contains glycerophospholipids with ether linkages. These lipids differ from conventional glycerophospholipids in that the sn-1 substituent is attached to the glycerol backbone via an 1-O-alkyl or an 1-O-alk-1'-enyl ether rather than an ester bond. The present investigation employed a combination of collision-induced dissociation (CID) and ozone-induced dissociation (OzID) to unambiguously distinguish such 1-O-alkyl and 1-O-alk-1'-enyl ethers.

Identification of glycerophospholipids in rapeseed, olive, almond, and sunflower oils by LC–MS and LC–MS–MS

HPLC employing a thermostatted Lichrospher 100 diol column was used to separate mixtures of glycerophospholipids of rapeseed, olive, almond, and sunflower oils. Elution was performed with a binar...

Promoting Collagen with Glycerophospholipids and Other Topics: Literature Findings

Reduced Linoleic Acid in a Mouse Model of Cystic Fibrosis Are Reversed by Supplemental Glycerophospholipids

Increased Tissue Arachidonic Acid and Reduced Linoleic Acid in a Mouse Model of Cystic Fibrosis Are Reversed by Supplemental Glycerophospholipids Enriched in Docosahexaenoic Acid

An imbalance in (n-6)/(n-3) PUFA has been reported in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Glycerophospholipids enriched in docosahexaenoic acid (GPL-DHA) have been shown to regulate the (n-6)/(n-3) fa...
